MajorWorth Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

MajorWorth ("the app") is made by MannyD.dev Software Solutions ("we", "us"). It shows what U.S. colleges cost and what their graduates earn, using public data from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. It covers the MajorWorth app only; the policy for our website and client services is here.

The short version. We do not run accounts or servers that collect your data, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. Your income bracket, home state, household size, number of parents, saved schools, and settings stay on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which has its own data practices described below. MajorWorth Pro removes ads entirely.

1. Information stored on your device

The family income bracket, home state, household size, and number of parents or guardians you choose (used only to estimate grants such as the Pell Grant), the schools and majors you save or compare, your display preferences, and whether you have unlocked Pro are stored locally on your iPhone. This information never leaves your device: it is not sent to us, to Google, or to any other service, and it is not used for ads. Deleting the app deletes it.

2. College data

The app comes with a copy of the public College Scorecard data and downloads updates from our data files hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. When you open a school, the app may download the public data file for that school's state. These requests contain no information about you beyond what any web request carries (such as your IP address). The app also downloads a public file of grant information (Pell Grant rules and state grant programs). They never include your income bracket, your home state, your household details, or what you searched for, and we do not log or analyze them. GitHub may keep standard server logs under the GitHub Privacy Statement.

3. Advertising (free version)

The free version displays ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google's SDK may collect:

  • Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when iOS asks
  • Your IP address, which is used to estimate your general (not precise) location
  • Ad interactions, such as which ads were shown or tapped
  • Diagnostic and performance information about the ad SDK

iOS asks for your permission before the app can access your advertising identifier ("Allow Tracking"). If you decline, you see the same number of ads, but they are not personalized using that identifier. Where required by law, the app also shows a Google consent message before any ads load. You can change the tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

The app never passes your income bracket, home state, household details, saved schools, or searches to the ad SDK. Google's use of the information it collects is governed by Google's Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services. We do not receive your advertising identifier or any ad profile.

4. Purchases

MajorWorth Pro is purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details, name, or Apple Account. The app only learns whether the purchase is valid.

5. Links to other websites

The app can open college websites, college net price calculators, and the College Scorecard site in an in-app browser. Those sites are run by others and have their own privacy policies. We do not see what you do on them.

6. Analytics and tracking

We do not include any analytics or tracking SDKs of our own, and there is no account or sign-in. Apart from the Google Mobile Ads SDK described above, the app contains no third-party code that collects data.

7. Children and teens

MajorWorth is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app does not ask for anyone's name, email, age, or contact details.

Many people who use MajorWorth are high school students planning for college. Under Google's ad policies, users that Google identifies as under 18 are shown only non-personalized ads. Pro removes ads for everyone.

8. Your choices

  • Skip the income bracket ("prefer not to say") and the app shows overall averages instead. The household questions are optional too.
  • Decline tracking when iOS asks, or change it later in iOS Settings.
  • Upgrade to Pro to remove ads entirely, along with the ad SDK's data collection.
  • Delete the app to remove everything it stored on your device.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
