StapleWatch Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 21, 2026

StapleWatch ("the app") is made by MannyD.dev Software Solutions ("we", "us"). It shows U.S. grocery and household prices from public U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. It covers the StapleWatch app only; the policy for our website and client services is here.

The short version. We do not run accounts or servers that collect your data, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. Your tracked items and settings stay on your device. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which has its own data practices described below. StapleWatch Pro removes ads entirely.

1. Information stored on your device

The items you track, your region, display preferences, alert choices, and whether you have unlocked Pro are stored locally on your iPhone (and shared with the app's widgets on the same device). This information is never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it.

2. Price data

The app downloads a public file of price data from our hosting provider. The file is compiled from public U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) statistics. That request contains no information about you beyond what any web request carries (such as your IP address), and we do not log or analyze it. The hosting provider may keep standard server logs.

3. Advertising (free version)

The free version displays ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google's SDK may collect:

  • Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when iOS asks
  • Your IP address, which is used to estimate your general (not precise) location
  • Ad interactions, such as which ads were shown or tapped
  • Diagnostic and performance information about the ad SDK

iOS asks for your permission before the app can access your advertising identifier ("Allow Tracking"). If you decline, you see the same number of ads, but they are not personalized using that identifier. Where required by law, the app also shows a Google consent message before any ads load. You can change the tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Google's use of this information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services. We do not receive your advertising identifier or any ad profile.

4. Purchases

StapleWatch Pro is purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details, name, or Apple Account. The app only learns whether the purchase is valid.

5. Notifications

If you turn on notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device. We do not operate a push-notification server and do not receive a device token.

6. Analytics and tracking

We do not include any analytics or tracking SDKs of our own. Apart from the Google Mobile Ads SDK described above, the app contains no third-party code that collects data.

7. Children

StapleWatch is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your choices

  • Decline tracking when iOS asks, or change it later in iOS Settings.
  • Upgrade to Pro to remove ads entirely, along with the ad SDK's data collection.
  • Delete the app to remove everything it stored on your device.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
